STEP 1: READ AND FOLLOW THE USA F1 STUDENT VISA GUIDE.
Follow your USA F1 Student Visa Guide sent by your IE Abroad Study Advisor. It will have a check list for all your documents required. You will also have your advisor on hand for any questions
This is one of the most important steps in your preparation for the interview. During the visa interview you must present enough evidence for you to get a visa. Some of the documents you must present include: your visa application, university acceptance letter, I-20 form sent to you by your university, as well as evidence that you have enough money to support yourself this will be in your certificate of finance or bank statement.
STEP 2: HAVE A POSITIVE OUTLOOK ABOUT GETTING YOUR VISA.
Visualise yourself successfully completing your interview and getting your visa. This will give you a positive outlook and get you in the right mindset when you actually do your interview.
STEP 3: ATTEND YOUR USA F1 STUDENT VISA PREPARATION INTERVIEW.
You will be asked to attend a USA F1 USA student visa preparation interview with your IE Abroad study advisor. We will go over questions with you that you could be asked during the interview and allow you to practice your answers. It is an opportunity to get past all the nerves and prepare your answers.
STEP 4: WHAT TO DO DURING THE INTERVIEW.
You should dedicate your full attention to the officer or the translator at the interview. Make sure to listen carefully, think before you answer and keep your answers short and to the point. During your preparation with us as your study advisor, we will let you know the most common questions that the interviewer asks.
STEP 5: PREPARE TO EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWERS.
It is important that you are able to explain the most common visa interview questions. Questions could include: What made you choose this university, what you are going to study, what do you want do with your career after you graduate, and others similar to these.
STEP 6: TALK ABOUT HOME TIES TO YOUR COUNTRY.
The visa officer at the embassy will often ask about the ties to your home country. This is done to make sure that you have enough reasons that hold you back and that you will eventually come back to your home country. Typically these include: your job or business, family or property you may own.
STEP 7: MAKE IT CLEAR YOU WILL RETURN HOME AFTER GRADUATION.
It is important, so make sure to go over this point and illustrate on a few examples that you are planning on coming back to your home country after graduating. Whether that means you intend to further your studies in your hometown or pursue a career at home.
STEP 8: SHOW CONFIDENCE.
Be confident, stay calm and smile. Project a positive and confident image, and you are going to have a successful USA F1 student visa interview.
